Moana 2026 “Review”

Thought I was going to hate this but that sound track carries this movie hard…let’s discuss!

As mentioned above, the soundtrack is amazing, just as it was 10 years ago. Everything with Catherine Laga’aia, who’s playing the live-action Moana, was amazing. Honestly loved her. The rock wasn’t even as bad as I had expected prior. He’s still not Maui to me. But he doesn’t do as bad a job as I thought prior to watching.

I had a good time with this. A personal 7/10 one time watch good time. It doesn’t hold a candle to the original. But, going in with a 36% RT score my expectations were set extremely low and I walked away honestly having a good time with the soundtrack. Maybe I had rose-tinted glasses on due to it? But if I pulled up the original alongside this like I did getting home from live action Lilo & Stitch, maybe I can tear it apart. But watching it as a movie with the animated version deep into my past memories I walked away having a good time.

Nothing at the end of this title, so maybe no live-action Moana 2. Honestly, Disney needs to stop with these live-action remakes. They’re never done better or add anything to the discussion. The soundtrack carries it, and the lead, Catherine, does a great job of capturing this story in live action.

Thank you for coming by Popped for your movie “reviews”. Did you checkout Moana in theatres? Love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Still to come from this weeks batch is The Invite. Next week we have the 3 hour long Odyssey before having a week away with no/limited releases for Comic Con weekend then the big Spider-Man to wrap up July :D.

Looking forward to those yet to come. What movies are you looking forward to after Spiderman at the end of the month? Let us know in the comments below.

Until next time though, fellow movie-goers. Happy Movie-Going :D.

Evil Dead Burn “Review”

Release date: July 10, 2026 (USA)

Director: Sébastien Vaniček

Producers: Sam RaimiRob Tapert

Screenplay: Sébastien VaničekFlorent Bernard

Cinematography: Philip Lozano

Production companies: Ghost House PicturesNew Line CinemaScreen Gems

Preferred this over Lee Cronin’s The Mummy – Was actually good gory fun 😀

Watched a ScreenCrush recap before watching this yesterday. Was a good watch. Plenty of gory gory moments, kills, action of variety 😉 was a good time despite weak character depth / attachment.

New to Evil Dead maybe this is a hard watch. Otherwise this is very much inline for an Evil Dead feature. Got the gore, horror, comedy (Thanks grandma :D) and action to boot. Sadly weak on the characters but did enjoy the connection between the two intros we get connecting our cast and villain together.

Deadites are back and their after the family of their grandfather that stole from them many many years prior….. nothing at the end to stick around for from what I saw but otherwise a good one time watch of 7/10. Gore fest lovers will enjoy :D.

Thanks for coming by Popped for your movie “Reviews”. Stick around as we dive from the depths of hell into the depths of the ocean with Moana live action :D.

Minions & Monsters “Review”

Release date: July 1, 2026 (USA)

Director: Pierre Coffin

Running time: 1h 29m

Prequel: Minions: The Rise of Gru

Distributed by: Universal Pictures

Trey Parker voices a character in this movie – As soon as Goomi spoke – I couldn’t unhear SouthPark 😛

Another Minions movie, this time we’re set in the 1920’s, 48 years before the 2015 Minions movie. For the most part, this movie was a good, solid time. It had great moments, which I’d love to give an 8, but also a lot of okay parts, bringing the Popped score to a 7.5/10.

Two storylines combine into a great ending, but the story mostly told through the trailer had already been shown and was my personal weakest interest. So it’s a good thing that the second storyline was a gem to experience. Loved that to bits, but for spoiler reasons, I’ll keep that a surprise in the comments to be discussed.

The Rise of Gru, for the sake of memory, was a better movie, but I’d have to go back and rewatch it. Seeing the review scores thus far, Monsters is performing stronger, so make of that as you will :D. Toy Story 5 is still my Oscar choice for Best Animated Feature this year; however, Wildwood from Laika, releasing at the end of the year, is my most anticipated animated movie.

Until October 23rd 2026, another potential hit is coming on September 25th with Forgotten Island.

Thank you for coming to Popped for your movie “Reviews”. Just a short one as this series has had several sequels already so should know what kind of movie this is. First time watching a minion movie? That’s why I still like to keep the surprise for your watching experience :D.

Until next time though fellow movie-goers. Happy movie-going! 😀

Jackass: Best and Last “Review”

Release date: June 26, 2026 (USA)

Director: Jeff Tremaine

Cinematography: Dimitry Elyashkevich

Distributed by: Paramount Pictures

Executive producers: Pete ChiappettaAnthony TittanegroGreg IguchiAndrew LaryShanna Newton

Genres: DocumentaryComedyAdventure

This will have varying weight depending your love/attachment to the series – I thought it was great!

They joke about this being the finale in the movie but it honestly did feel like their last. It was rather touching and insane watching this as it relived unwatched footage from day 1 to the very last. Adding new content and challenges amongst revisiting epic moments. This was a total blast and a hoot! Laughed so much.

With the mixture of entertainment. You may even get further entertainment watching this in the theatre amongst a crowd. I had a guy constantly turning away for the poop content, which even had me going at times. Bad Grandpa has always been my fave and didn’t disappoint seeing him again in the best and last!

Stick around throughout the credits as you get to relive all the moments of a certain sketch throughout each movie 😉 :D. Stick around even further to get a little trolled. Regardless, had a blast with a Popped score of 8/10. This was a great movie, which I can see some scoring into the 9’s and owning on Blu-Ray :D.

This marks 50 movies watched thus far for 2026. With Jackass being the last movie for the first half of the year, 50 is looking pretty good. I appreciate you all for coming by Popped for your movie “Reviews”. We have a few titles to explore for Summer 2026, a pretty major one being Spider-Man 😀 – Minions coming this Wednesday, the 1st of July. Live action Moana, anyone? Followed by The Odyssey before getting to Spider-Man, at the end of July.

Until next batch those fellow movie-goers. Happy movie-going 😀

Supergirl “Review”

Release date: June 26, 2026 (USA)

Director: Craig Gillespie

Screenplay: Ana Nogueira

Budget: 170 million USD

MPAA rating: PG-13

Distributed by: Warner Bros. PicturesWarner Bros. Entertainment

Why all the hate for Supergirl? – Let’s discuss shall we 😀

Let’s jump straight to it. It’s a weak, good 7/10 one-time watch movie. Maybe there’s something to rewatch. (For me personally, it’s the action scenes). But otherwise, I wouldn’t watch this again, sadly.

I feel bad for saying this, but the 13-year-old girl, Eve Ridley, playing Ruthye Marye Knoll, held this movie back. Having Kara (Supergirl, played by Milly Alcock) constantly babysitting her and bubble wrapping her to keep from being hurt. She has a freaking cool sword and …. (Scream in disappointed outrage!) Ruthye is out for revenge!

There’s no end scene or mid-credits scene. Just walk out afterwards. It would have been cool tying in Lanterns as it releases next month.

More Lobo, please! Came off cooler in the trailers than in the movie. Felt like Jack Black’s Bowser was on screen. I did enjoy his scenes, but I wanted more. The babysitting is getting in the way Ruthye had me over this film. Main lesson of Supergirl – Men are bad! Not to be trusted, nor those with an interior motive! Could probably count on 1 hand the number of good male characters in this film.

Personally, I prefer Supergirl from the CW (At least the first few seasons). That’s not to say Supergirl is a bad movie. It’s got some good moments to it. But outside of a 1 time watch. I’d be fine skipping it and waiting for something like Clay Face, which is taking an intriguing villain and elevating the origins for new and current DC fans alike.

I’m sure I could go on. But to keep this spoiler-free, I’ll wrap it up here and love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. As mentioned at the top, 7/10 Popped score.

Thank you for coming by Popped for your movie reviews 😀 – Checked out Supergirl? Lets discuss it in the comments below. Hopefully you enjoy it more than the critics have thus far.

Next up should be Jackass? But that depends on whether I’m enticed enough to go or play more Kingdom Hearts BBS.

Until next time, though, fellow movie-goers – Happy Movie-Going!

Leviticus “Review”

Release date: June 19, 2026 (USA)

Director: Adrian Chiarella

Cinematography: Tyson Perkins

Distributed by: Neon

Editor: Nick Fenton

Executive producers: Mia WasikowskaRobert Connolly · See more

Typically I quite enjoy Neon movies, seeing a 93% RT score I expected a lot more from Leviticus, let’s disucss!

Sadly didn’t get to watch the entire batch last week as I was glued to completed Kingdom Hearts 2 on critical mode :D. After seeing a 93% I had to check this out today. To say I was disappointed is only the start of this movie.

For a movie 14 minutes shorter than Toy Story 5, this movie draws out the point. Feels overly boring. Pretty much lays out the story through its trailer at a vastly quicker pace. When I see 90+ % I’m expecting the level of polish and quality that Obsession displays. The villain or big bad wasn’t scary. Wasn’t fleshed out nor did it feel resolved by the end of the movie unlike Obsession.

A baited intro and a small build-up at the end were probably the better parts of the movie. Sadly, a disappointing 6/10. It’s barely above average for a theatrical release. I can see this finding an audience on streaming one day.

Stick around as coming up next Super Girl! – Thanks for coming by Popped for your movie “reviews” :D.

Toy Story 5 “Review”

Release date: June 19, 2026 (USA)

Director: Andrew Stanton

Prequel: Toy Story 4

Running time: 1h 42m

MPAA rating: PG

Distributed by: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

Solid contender for best animated feature of 2026! Currently has my vote!

I’m calling this a beautiful generational movie. Watched Toy Story 1/2 as a child you’re going to love this. Watched the 3rd/4th coming in a little later you’re going to be attached to some characters if you’re watching the 5th :P. First time watching a Toy Story movie? You’re going to have a good time for sure.

When it comes to loving the characters within this franchise, growing and overcoming new challenges. You’re going to have a great time. So much humor across the board. Personally, having watched these movies since I was a child. I feel like this hits harder for those viewers like myself. I was honestly tearing up and had streaks down my face a good couple of times with all the emotions being felt :D.

Curious note: Why did Disney stop with the shorts before the movie? Did it mess with the short run time of movies? Not sure. Either way. Loved the intro to this movie! Freaking loved it! Stick around during the credits. There’s a mid-credit scene. Nothing is worth staying for to the very end, but there’s a little something if you have time. Mid credit was chef kiss!

What’s Toy Story 5 all about? Well, the gang’s back and beautifully tying in all the previous movies. Even though I disliked 4. The groundwork laid in 4 is moving the story forward into 5. By exploring the introduction of technology. The obsoleteness of older non-tech toys. Who’s going to keep Bonnie safe, introduce her to new friends, and look after her best interests? You’ll have to watch Toy Story 5 at your local theatre to find out. Popped scoring of 9/10. This movie was fantastic. I started off looking for critics, to find myself at a certain point. Loving & crying over this movie.

Planning to see this movie over the weekend? Or just come home from it? Love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Could they make a 6th? Leave it here? Let’s talk in the comments.

Thank you all for coming by Popped for your movie “Reviews”. Lots are releasing this week so for the batch to come. Look forward to Girls like Girls, Death of Robin Hood & Leviticus, over this weekend.

Until next time though fellow movie-goers, happy movie-going 😀

Disclosure Day “Review”

Release date: June 12, 2026 (USA)

Director: Steven Spielberg

Music composed by: John Williams

Producers: Steven SpielbergKristie Macosko Krieger

Screenplay: David Koepp

Story by: Steven Spielberg

Let’s discuss this without spoilers then potential spoilers – Once you know, you know…

No Spoilers “Review”

Colman Domingo has been incredibly busy with so many good movies of late. Does Disclosure Day add to this list? Depends on your experience, I’d say. For a movie focused on not revealing the last third of the movie through the trailer. I had to see this before being spoiled. Other than some low ratings / negative buzz, I didn’t hear anything about the movie as I avoided it at all costs.

So what did I think? – Honestly, I was so captivated by this movie, despite its length. I was lured in to find out the big reveal. Would have said it’s a solid good movie worth watching once. Then the reveal occurred. Okay, it’s not massive for me personally, but hey, I was actually getting filled with emotions, almost wanting to cry O.o WHAT! Yeah, I dunno, had to listen. Sadly, it didn’t hit the landing, though, and with that, Disclosure Day is getting a fine, almost good rating of 6.5/10 Popped score.

Potential Spoiler “Review”

Disclosure Day focuses on 2 individuals, Josh O’Connor (Playing Daniel Kellner) & Emily Blunt (Playing Margaret Fairchild), as their stories begin apart. We get to learn about them, and we’re introduced through them in two very different ways, the lore and setting of what Disclosure Day is all about.

On the one hand, we’re introduced at a very fast pace, being dunked into the deep end and learning about things later on. The other is gradual, explored through fascinating aspects of daily life with a slight abnormality.

I felt this movie was created as a discussion point to land home and end on a point where theatre goers get to break it down and translate it to real life. Well, let’s get to it in the comments below? 😀 Shall we? :D. Any who, a fine movie, almost good in fact. 6.5/10 or a weak sauce 7.

Potential Spoiler Discussion

If you’re avoiding the trailer, then don’t read this part, dummy!

With Men In Black releasing in the late 90’s. I feel like this discussion had the seeds sown back then. It would have been nice to go a little further into Disclosure Day and see the next part of the discussion rather than bringing “Men in Black: Origins” as a familiar example. I won’t go further to avoid spoilers for those intrigued to read but want to learn a little more.

Thank you all for coming by Popped for your movie “Reviews”!

With that, fellow movie-goers, I look forward to returning later in the week with an onslaught of titles. From Horror Leviticus. Drama with Girls Like Girls. Action Adventure with The Death of Robin Hood, & of course, the juggernaut that is Toy Story 5!

Lots to look forward to for sure. Lots to catch up on. All making for an excellent time this summer at the theatre!

Until next time, happy movie going, fellow movie goers 😀

Masters of the Universe “Review”

Release date: June 5, 2026 (USA)

Director: Travis Knight

Budget: $170–200 million

Story by: Aaron Nee; Adam Nee; Alex Litvak; Michael Finch

Producers: Jason BlumenthalRobbie BrennerDeVon FranklinSteve TischTodd Black

I really hope the Mattel Universe can exist, having Barbie or Ken turn up in this universe would be great!

(Joke: Thought of gods playing with their Mattel toys/dolls to end the chapter would be super funny!)

Masters of the Universe was executed so well, I want to dive in deep into all the old classic shows and see these characters again. The combination of the music, world & characters is something I’d love to watch again. Yes the movie runs a little too long. I don’t know enough of the lore for the Earth portions of the movie. But honestly when you’re not on earth and being amongst this fleshed out universe where the Masters of the Universe reside, it’s an epic good time!

I have to dash and leave at 6am tomorrow, so rushing this “Review” out. But honestly, I loved it. Solidly within the 8’s. Does the pacing get long, yes…but it’s not boring, so possibly an 8.5 but solidly a movie I’d love to rewatch one day.

Action was fun, characters felt like action figures from back in the 80’s. The sets were stunning. Beautiful and fully lived within. Jared Leto as Skeletor killed it! He Man (Nicholas Galitzine) honestly surprised me as well. Wasn’t sold from the trailer, but I got super filled with emotions the first time he said the lines :D. (You know what line ;)!)

With that said. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! – Thank you all for stopping by for your movie “Reviews”. I’ll be back next week with Disclosure Day….possibly Saturday :s I’ll be out hiking/camping for a week :D.

Until next time, fellow movie-goers, happy movie-going 😀

Scary Movie “Review”

Release date: June 5, 2026 (USA)

Director: Michael Tiddes

13 years since Scary Movie 5 & 23 years since Scary Movie 3, which had a lot of memorable parodies, so how’s 6?

Calling itself a Rebooquel, this is a sequel within a reboot of this classic franchise that feels like returning home. Back in control once again under the Wayans Bros. This is Scary Movie doing what it does best, just like the first couple of movies did. Loved the collection of films to parody. Is this your first Scary Movie? Then you’re in for a treat. Arrive with a drink or high, and you’ll have yourself a good time. Hey, even without it, you’ll have yourself a great time.

Some scenes occur out of nowhere without warning, having you laugh out loud. So what are you waiting for? Go check out Scary Movie 6 at the theatre this weekend and let’s get that White Chicks Sequel going… 😀 8/10 Solid great movie.

From your old or classic fandom for the O.G Cast to the new cast joining alongside them. Everyone does a great job fitting together. Olivia Rose Keegan, playing Sara Campbell, the daughter of O.G. Cindy, does a great job channeling her mum’s energy while developing both their characters through flashbacks and keying the audience in to how she’s been affected by having Cindy as her mother.

Regina Hall slays her Brenda Meeks character, not missing a beat, returning along with Dave Sheridan as Doofy. There are so many returning and new cast members; I’ll let you discover them on your own. Had a great time, a barrel of laughs, and would love to check it out again. Especially to get this franchise back with so much new horror releasing that can be spoofed on :D.

Checked out the new Scary Movie yet in theatres? Love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. New or an O.G to the franchise, I’d love to hear from you :D.

P.S (I almost forgot to mention!) – Stick around for the crawl for extra fun scenes. Nothing after the credits, but prior & during the crawl were great additions :D.

Thanks for coming by, Popped for your movie “Reviews”. Going to watch Master of the Universe Saturday morning for this week’s batch with possibly Power Ballad if showtimes work out.

Until next time, fellow movie-goers, happy movie-going 😀
